Plywood Category - 1. Engineered wood products

1. Structural Plywood

Austral Premium Structural is a cost-effective and versatile exterior grade appearance plywood, manufactured with a “B” face and back. It is very popular in marine applications, shop fitting & cabinet making. A full Hoop Pine construction makes for a very stable plywood, and the closed grain veneer produces a superb paint finish. Overall, it is an extremely workable and tool friendly panel.

Austral Premium Structural is certified to the AS/NZS 2269 structural standard and possesses a stress grade of F17. This superior stress grade enhances the versatility of this panel and is attributable to our premium Hoop Pine resource.

2. Shuttering / Film-Faced Plywood

Heavy-duty shuttering plywood. Our shuttering formwork plywood is high number of repeat usages, withstands abrasion due to the excellent wear-resistant film and strong core bonded with WBP glue. Shuttering plywood is weather and boil-resistant, easy to clean for re-use . Types include poplar, hardwood, birch, combi; films color can be brown, black, green, MDO, HDO or oiled treated concrete formwork plywood. Used in building construction work to create the wooden moulds into which concrete will be case. Hence called concrete shuttering plywood. Can be reused several times before being discarded or used for other purposes. Film-faced shuttering plywood has a shiny phenolic film over the surface, so that the concrete does not stick to the plywood, and the dampness does not damage the ply.

3. Marine Plywood

Marine plywood has long had the reputation as "the best" plywood, and for good reason. We like to think of it as a “AAA" plywood, as it must have an "A" face and back, "A" core veneers throughout, an "A-Bond" glue system, and manufactured using a Marine-designated timber specie. If any of these characteristics are not present, it is not Marine plywood.

As a high performing product, Austral AAA Marine is constructed using the highest grade veneers throughout the entire panel. It is manufactured from selected species based on density, bending strength, impact resistance and surface finishing characteristics. Austral AAA Marine is manufactured to AS/NZS 2272, using plantation Hoop Pine, a designated Marine specie.

Example: Marine Plywood = Boat Building

Plywood Category - 2. Not-Engineered wood products

1. Interior Plywood : (Non-Structural)

The Interior is manufactured with 100% Hoop Pine and is intended for use in non-structural, interior applications where a high-quality aesthetic finish is required. Typical applications include internal wall paneling, furniture and fitments, interior door skins and ceiling linings. Interior plywood must not be used in exposed, wet or damp conditions.

Example: Interior Plywood = Shelf (Furniture)

2. Exterior Plywood : (Non-Structural)

The Exterior is a high-quality Hoop Pine plywood manufactured with a high-grade face and a lesser grade back. Primarily used for walls and ceilings, exterior plywood is also suitable for semi-exposed applications, if finished correctly. Fully exposed applications such as wall cladding are not recommended.

Example: Exterior Plywood = Ceilings (does not support weight)
